The Cultural Representative Program is a twelve-month work experience located at Walt Disney World® Resort, near Orlando, Florida. Participants have the opportunity to share the unique culture and customs of their country with Guests, while working different front line, guest facing roles. Participants must authentically represent one of the countries or regions we have recreated in look and feel at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Countries and regions represented are: Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Norway, Southeast Asia (India, Indonesia, Thailand), Sub-Saharan Africa (Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe), and United Kingdom.

Accepting applications for positions that will start in 2024.

Responsibilities: Our Sub-Saharan Africa Cultural Representatives can be placed one of the four roles listed below. There are the descriptions for each position:
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Savanna Guide:
  • Engaging Guests in informal conversations on topics such as wildlife, animal behavior, animal care and conservation, as well as your heritage, your individual country and the continent of Africa
  • Delivering formal educational presentations on your culture and the wildlife of Africa (includes storytelling and speaking on microphone)
  • Initiating conversations with small and large groups of people
  • Leading a variety of cultural and animal related activities for Guests of all ages, including families with young children
  • Adjusting conversation content to a variety of age levels
  • Increasing your knowledge regarding wildlife and conservation-related issues and sharing it with Guests
  • Ensuring Guest safety in animal viewing areas
  • Providing resort and park information to Guests
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Food and Beverage Seater:
  • Utilizing a computerized reservation system for seating Guests in restaurant
  • Escorting Guests to tables
  • Setting and stocking tables, carts, and restaurants side stations
  • Cash handling - manual and using computerized registers
  • Leading a variety of cultural activities such as cookie decorating, face painting, drawing, storytelling, and tours
  • Delivering formal educational presentations showcasing the restaurant theme and African culinary
  • Bussing tables, cleaning kitchen and counter equipment, emptying trash cans
  • Heavy lifting
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge – Themed Lobby Greeter:
  • Proactively greeting every Guest that enters or leaves the resort with a traditional African Greeting
  • Enhancing Guests' cultural awareness through stories about your country and African heritage
  • Leading a variety of cultural activities
  • Adjusting conversation content to a variety of age levels
  • Initiating conversations with small and large groups of people
  • Paying special attention to each and every child to create a lasting impression
  • Providing resort and park information to Guests
  • Maintaining Guest areas Show Ready
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park - Park Greeter:
  • Delivering both formal and informal presentations on your country's culture, geography, and people, as well as Africa’s wildlife and conservation efforts
  • Engaging families with young children as part of the park-wide Wilderness Explorers program
  • Initiating conversations about your culture and the continent of Africa with Guests of all ages in a fast-paced theme park environment
  • Increasing your knowledge regarding wildlife and conservation-related issues and sharing it with Guests
  • Providing park information to Guests
Basic Qualifications: To be eligible to apply for the Sub-Saharan Africa Cultural Representative Program, you MUST:
  • Speak English fluently.
  • Be at least 18 years of age to apply.
  • Be able to authentically represent Sub-Saharan Africa region: Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
  • Be receptive to Disney Look guidelines.
  • Be fully available to work Sunday through Saturday, including days and nights, holidays and overtime.
Candidates will be required to attend an in-person presentation and interview in Botswana, Cape Town, Namibia or Johannesburg.

Additional Information: Pay rate: Cast Members will earn an hourly rate of pay starting at $17.00 per hour depending on the role they are selected to perform.
